The West Wing

In chapter twelve you will find that there are many different people who work in The White House supporting the president. You will be assigned a number in class that corresponds to a job of the current White House that your team must research, edit onto the wiki, and present.

Click on your class link to edit your section of the wiki:

Do the following:
  1. In the West Wing chart for your class period: describe your job, list the most important people in this particular job in the current White House, add a still or video image of your job, and present this information to the class.
  2. *** EXTRA CREDIT *** The president is the most powerful person in the world, but he can't do all of his work alone. He needs assistants. Present an analogy of the president and his assistants. For example: Obama=Robin Hood, Chief of Staff Daley is Little John; or Barack Obama is Luke Skywalker, Senior Advisor David Plouffe is Han Solo; or Obama is Lord Voldemort and Vice President Biden is Draco Malfoy and the Cabinet are Death Eaters. Use an analogy that you imagine most of us will be familiar with: Star Wars, Harry Potter, Super Heroes, Greek gods and goddesses, Jesus and his apostles, The UNCSA administration, the Miami Heat. Have fun with your analogy, but try to make it as convincing and accurate as possible. You may extend your analogy to include villains and monsters. Put your analogy in the analogy box on the wiki and explain your analogy to class. *** For EXTRA CREDIT you may make a video, power point, or wiki of this information with graphics, video, photos, etc, for up to five points extra credit on the presidency test. ***
  3. Listen to your classmates' presentations, take note, and then rank the jobs of from most to least powerful.
  4. Finally, be prepared to discuss in class, the question: Who really controls the White House today?
